Information Architecture

Original Header and Footer

  • The primary navigation font size was far too small for most people to read.

  • The Site homepage was far too long and essentially a one page site.

  • Users were scrolling and scrolling without clear direction and when they arrived at the footer, they had no exit other than scrolling at the way back up.

Redesigned Head and Footer

  • Adjusted the settings to a larger font size and added site location mapping through text hover and highlighting distinction.

  • Restructured the site by designating pages and primary navigation tabs to each section.

  • Added the primary navigation to the footer, allowing users to continue to navigate the site from the bottom of the page.

  • In addition to adding the logo so that user could also have this familiar way of getting back to the homepage from any other site pages.

Homepage Before and After

  • The Original site was basically designed as a one page website.

  • Because of that design choice, it was extremely long, as seen below.

  • After consulting with the client about the personal and business goals, I was able to establish a better page hierarchy.

  • This mid-fidelity mock was approved and helped me to do some user navigation testing.
